I'm really stretching on this one, since it was over 50 years ago, but my Dad taught me on a bike he restored from pieces, and painted the color of a palomino, since I loved horses so much. He even made a silver mane and tail for it. No training wheels, just him, running along side.

I never had them, My father just took me in the backyard and pushed me down a hill. I fell a couple times and that was that. Thank god I picked up swimming real fast too.

I never used stabilizers. When I was 5 my cousin allowed me to ride her bike. It was full size and no training wheels. I only remember one really bad spill.
