  • Stumbling upon acceleration is usually a sign of either faulty ignition or faulty fuel flow. If the valve timing is off because of a mistake during the timing belt replacement, usually you'll have good power at low RPM and poor power at high RPM, or the opposite (don't ask how I know this...;-D...). Check that all your secondary ignition bits (distributor cap, rotor, spark plugs, plug wires, etc.) are in good condition. If that's all in good condition, the next likely culprit is one of the sensors for the engine computer. For example, if the throttle position sensor (TPS) had a 'dead spot' on it, every time the throttle passed through that position, the engine would briefly return to idle settings for fuel delivery, ignition timing, etc. I'm sorry I can't be more specific than that.   • i done the same on my mr2 but it stumbled in first and second, i checked it over and there was a loose wire and i also gave it a service and since then everything ok, hope this helps
