  • I think they are beautiful dogs. I met one a few weeks ago and fell in love. Be sure to have a big yard so it can run and play. They are hunting dogs so if you take it with you, it will be a great companion.
  • I have one and she is awesome. Just be sure to make it a part of your family. They are not the kind of dog that is happy alone. We've had two and they were both extremely easy to train and very intelligent. Do not expect them to do mindless tricks. They will only do something if they can see a point to it.
  • I grew up with two German Shorthaired Pointers which look the same as the weimaraner, but are a different color. I wanted to get a weimaraner when I grew up but learned that they have the same temperment as shorthaired pointers and thought better of the idea. I loved my dogs growing up, but they were difficult house dogs. They do anything to eat anything and they required lots of space to run. They were wonderful with us kids, but the female did not get along well with other children. Again, I loved them to death and was so happy to have them but when it came time for me to pick a dog for my family and children I went for and easier breed - a Golden Retriever.
  • Weimaraners are amazing dogs. They are smart, loyal, and they really love human companionship. Just be sure you know what you're getting yourself into. So many Weims end up in rescues because people aren't prepared for how high maintenance a Weimaraner really is. By that I mean they require a lot of exercise. And they require a lot of your time. If you have plenty of time and energy to devote to a Weimaraner you will not regret getting a dog of this breed.
