I'm sure they did. What else could it be? Soda pop?

Real Wine
-
It could have been tomato juice, some of them grow on a vine.
-
I'm sure that it was real wine.
-
I don't think they had fake wine. It probably was not as strong as what we get off the shelves today, but it was real. That is how they kept it sanitary.
-
Well I'm going to go with real wine, since wine is made of grapes, that grow on a vine.
-
hey yo Jesus, pass me a coke!
-
It was not economically feasible to make grape juice in those days. Wine had a longer shelf life and a higher demand.
-
Welch's Grape Juice. especially ordered from the future.

From what I have been taught it was wine, but more then likely it was very watered down and less concentrated then what we think of wine being these days. They talk about wine and how to store wine in the bible a few times . If they had grape juice that sat long enough it would ferment and be considered wine so I believe it was more less real wine just kinda watered down.

It was real wine. In other verses Jesus speaks about using new and old wineskins. They knew you would never use old wineskins because they were too brittle and couldn't handle the fermentation that would occur inside them. So everyone knew you always put it in new flexible wineskins. Plus, considering when harvest was there, it would be impossible for grapes or juice to stay fresh and not ferment from the last harvest time in the fall to the Passover in spring.

It would have to be wine,i'd need a stiff drink if i was going to be crusified.
-
yes it is wine BUT to them in those times Wine is fresh grape juice therefor it had no alchohol in it. wine to us is is aged grape juice .nothing in the bible ever stated that their juice was aged its always said it was fresh. this is where people take it out of context and use that as an excuse to make drinking ok..
-
Perhaps it wasn't wine as the OT says “Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.” Proverbs 20:1 You can't say Jesus was not wise or that he changed the OT ruling because it's still there in the NT which says “And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;” Ephesians 5:18

Real wine. Jesus told them, "Fill the jars with water." So they filled them to the brim. Then he told them, "Draw some out now and take it to the headwaiter." So they took it. And when the headwaiter tasted the water that had become wine, ... (John 2:7-9) Wine is used throughout both the Old and New Testaments. The first recorded miracle of Jesus was to turn water into wine at the wedding in Cana. It is true that we should not become drunk but used in moderation, wine is a biblically acceptable beverage. Go, eat your bread with joy and drink your wine with a merry heart, because it is now that God favors your works. (Ecclesiastes 9:7) What would Jesus do? Jesus had a cup of wine with dinner. If some people wish to totally forego alcohol to eliminate the temptation to over indulge, that's fine. But I don't think they should force that unbiblical practice onto others. With love in Christ.

Probably grape juice. However, either is correct as Jesus did drink wine in the Bible. If you believe it is a sin to use wine, then by all means use grapejuice. Also, wine in Jesus' day was not all that alcoholic like today's wine. In any case, it could have been either, but I personally believe it was mostly likely grapejuice or some type of non-alcoholic wine, if there is such a thing.
