  • yeah i agree with that . because its true, which means that iam a happy person for the most part, and i always try to be helpfull when i can .
  • Well seems to me if you get joy out of being mean to people, then your life would be very happy.
  • I agree. That's usually the case. The bullies at school have usually come from an unhappy home life.
  • Agreed. Happiness, as everything else, starts from within first, then it flows outward. If you don't have it, whatever "it" is, you cannot possible give or show it to anyone or anything.
  • Agreed. You tend to project onto others how you feel about yourself.
  • I do agree. Mean people are angry people and that anger separates them from kindness and it pushes happy people away many times.
  • I completely agree. When I was younger I always took it as my fault when someone was mean to me. But now I understand that when someone treats me unkindly, it is usually because the person is in some sort of emotional pain.
  • Sounds right to me. I think that the character of Ouiser in Steel Magnolias is a perfect example. Her best quote: Ouiser Boudreaux: I'm not crazy, M'Lynn, I've just been in a very bad mood for 40 years!
  • I think that being mean and unpleasant to those around you can give some people a sense of satisfaction that may be missing from their lives otherwise, but I don't think that necessarily bares a direct and sole relation to the objective "Quality" of their life. Different people appreciate life differently, so I'd say that not so much is it a matter of "The meaner someone is the worse their life must be," as it is a matter of "The meaner someone is the less fulfillment they must glean from whatever kind of life they have". I've known some people who, by most objective standards, had miserable lives, and yet also managed to be some of the kindest people I've ever known, and on the other hand, I've known some people who were incredibly fortunate in life, but also had drastically overinflated senses of entitlement that never allowed them to be content and happy no matter how good their lives may be.
