Why all the "what is this pill" questions given that taking unknown and unprescribed pills is extremely hazardous - I thought one just doesnt take any unknown pill under any circumstances?

Sometimes parents find pills in their kid's rooms and want to know if they're really taking drugs or if they're just taking asprin. I'm HOPING no one is stupid enough to take random pills- but at least they're asking before just eating it! Also, sometimes people might buy pills but they look different than normal, and they want to make sure they aren't getting jipped.

There do not seem to be anywhere near as many "what is this pill" questions as there were a few months ago. I am never sure if it is young people hoping they have found something they may like to take, or parents worried about something they have found in a childs possession. Either way unless you have the pills or a book given to Doctors that has pictures and descriptions of the pills I find the questions difficult for a layman to be exact or helpful. That is a situation where guessing could be very dangerous.
