Why may some people like the smell of their own flatulence while hating the odor of other people's?

I really don't want to answer this question but it seems like no one else is gonna touch it and I am tired of seeing it on my screen. I guess it is because some people are particular that way. Everyone is different and we all have our personal preferences.

We probably get accustomed to our own smells each time we go to the toilet.

What an intriguing question. I suppose that could also be applied to our own blood, vomit, urine, feces, etc. I think, because it comes from our own body, we somehow find it bearable. But for me, knowing that I am smelling noxious gases from someone else's anus is enough to make me gag.

That's a good question. I don't know why really. I guess it has to do with familiarity. Our germs, odors, habits, whatever are always less annoying to us than other peoples.

Your question poses further study and might leed to a way of solveing the lonelyness problem of many old men who smell bad . It we can learn to enjoy the smell of another equally dirty person, we can then get together and not be lonely. We will have beat the smell aversion. I hope someone will look into this in the interest of mankind
