  • Yes. Otherwise it's only the criminals who have guns, and the poor police are at a huge disadvantage.
  • Good question, and yes I think so, the world has changed since the village bobby respected by all. Its a harder world now, with worse people in it. Our police force needs to be able to defend itself and us, so sadly yes.
  • No I do not think that a shooting should cause a jump in reaction. Only a few years ago the Police Federation voted against carrying guns as a general rule. Officers have guns locked in most cars and certain officers are trained in the use of firearms. I work amongst a lot of the force and the general concensus seems to be the job would become even more dangerous if gun carrying became the norm.

  • I don't know about this truthfully because i have seen how they get carried away with their pepper spray and stun guns! give em gun and they'll get trigger happy! leave it to the swat teams :)
  • Absolutely............. Terrorist carry automatic weapons and have invaded most countries of the world. A man would have to be a complete idiot not to be armed while in a police uniform. Does the phrase "sitting duck" sound familiar??
