  • lol good question. I posted to joel about the said 'Bernice' the other day coz its getting rediculus. There was two of them at it the other day. The 'male' one had dated EVERY star sign and wanted to know how to split up with them lol
  • I know, its crazy. Maybe we should all go home and leave them to play by themselves
  • They wanted to create a system, generate a flow. Relying on other people you don't know to create a medium in blotchy and unreliable, they needed some comfort in standardisation.
  • 1) I know about two cases where question generators were used: - AB-Bernice: "Member Since: Jun 18, 2007 Last Seen: Dec 16, 2007 Gender: Female her points subs pts + % Questions: 927 1117 63% Answers: 2 78 100% Comments: 3 " http://www.answerbag.com/profile/?id=166082 AB-Bernice asked 927 questions between Jul 22, 2007 and Jul 26, 2007. AB-Bernice could ask about 375 questions in one day. Her answers, comment and approval of friend request were done by a staff member. - AB-Wikibot: "Member Since: Apr 11, 2007 Last Seen: Apr 11, 2007 points Questions: 74203 45% Answers: 74253 55 62%" http://www.answerbag.com/profile/?id=146064 AB-Wikibot asked 74203 questions in a single day. It answered all the questions that it asked. (I don't know why it gave 50 answers more than questions, maybe it answered some of its questions twice,) 2) AB-Bernice could have been a try to make people think that they were talking with a real person. It looks like some people did not understand immediately that the question were computer generated. 3) AB-Wikibot was obviously not a human, it would not have been possible for a human to do that work in such a short time. The name stated also clearly what it was. The idea was to get a big ammount of contents from Wikipedia in Answerbag to fill the database. It asked maily geographical questions about some particular places. In the future, if someone were asking a question or seeking answers about this place, they will probably find those questions an find there immediately answers to their questions. 4) Of course, our questions are often wonderful. They are mostly much better than what those two bots have been asking. And we are also giving feedback if they get answered, and discussing about the answers and anything else in the comment threads. However, a very big information database with many possibilities for quickly answering some easy questions could also be created with the help of such bots. Those were here just experiments, and they did not become much appreciation from the Answerbaggers, but in the future, btter one could also come and play an important role in generation information. I also asked a question about this issue (I see you have already answered it): http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/532829
