  • I think that is the radical gay community, not the majority of the gay community, trying to recruit. The radicals in the gay movement want everyone to believe they are at least Bi, and want to cloud everyones sexuality into one gray area to push their political agenda. I don't think most gay people agree with their views either, but that small segment of their community is driving the agenda and ultimately I think it hurts their cause. I am more in the mindset that more people chose the lifestyle than are born with it, but I know many do not agree.
  • One question at at time, please.
  • being gay is as natural as being straight. Gays didnt choose their lifestyle anymore than straights did. Gays are persucuted and discriminated against. ask any Gay person if they "chose" to be gay and they will probably say no. Its like asking why you chose to be black or white..
  • 1) because sexuality is determined by genetics, therefore we are born with our orientation. 2) Gay has come to mean a homosexual person usually refers to a man since women are normally referred to as lesbian. 3) It began to be used to mean homosexual in the 1920s.
  • Being someone born and raised in San Francisco I have had enough contact with the gay community. I have worked with gays, transsexuals, etc., and have had more experience than you might think. With a disproportionate number of gay folk coming from broken homes, abusive pasts, and fully disfunctional families, there has to be some merit to that. Even those in the community will tell you this. Maybe you should ask the vast number of gay friends you have how many were abused or came from traumatic households growing up. If it is not a choice and merely physical, then there should be a way to determine what marks the difference between straight and gay people, such as a chemical imbalance, etc. Then when there is truly a wide open chance to make oneself hetero sexual with a medical "cure" we will se how many chose their homosexuality or not. I think there are way more things that are choices versus some animalistic response when it comes to humans. Why you brought the Bible into your argument was unclear, I was speaking from strictly human conditions.
  • Gay to me (and apparently the rest of society) is being attracted to the same sex. Though, I don't think labels should be used at all and I think it's wrong to tell people they were "born gay". Nobody really knows whether people are born gay or if society made them that way when growing up, but I think people are capable of accepting themselves and don't need others to tell them to "accept it".
  • No one actually tells US that, we just know it because we are gay- we didn't choose it, it just happened that way. We are telling OURSELVES that we are who we are and to accept it, because you can't change your DNA. Gay means homosexual, or attracted to members of your same sex- but this can include bisexuality- which means they are attracted to both men and women. As far as who came up with gay for homosexual, I haven't the foggiest idea.
  • Nobody told us. we just knew that we were attracted to the same sex. Science is still puzzled over why this occurs in nature...but occur it does. I was born gay. In retrospect I should have known at about 7 or 8 that I was--if I'd understood sexuality then. This is not a choice we made--you will never find a gay person saying that they chose to be gay.
  • Despite being told that gay is a "choice", most gay people have realized that they did not choose to be gay... but that they chose to accept themselves for who they truly are. Scientific researchers specializing in human sexuality have shown that homosexuality is genetic. Scientific research publications from October 2004 and June 2008 stated that scientists have found that women tend to have more children when they inherit the same genetic factors linked to homosexuality in men. This fertility boost more than compensates for the lack of offspring fathered by gay men, and keeps the “gay” genetic factors in circulation. A 2005 study reported genetic scans showing a clustering of the same genetic pattern among gay men on three chromosomes - chromosomes 7, 8, and 10. The regions on chromosome 7 and 8 were associated with male sexual orientation regardless of whether the man got them from his mother or father. The regions on chromosome 10 were only associated with male sexual orientation if they were inherited from the mother. A study from 2006 said that researchers have known for years that a man's likelihood of being gay rises with the number of older biological brothers, but the new study found that the so-called "fraternal birth order effect" persists even if gay men were raised away from their biological families & that "the research suggests that the development of sexual orientation is influenced before birth." http://www.newscientist.com/article.ns?id=dn6519 http://www.livescience.com/health/080617-hereditary-homosexuality.html http://www.webmd.com/sex-relationships/news/20050128/is-there-gay-gene http://www.medpagetoday.com/OBGYN/Pregnancy/tb/3641
