  • Choose something that interests you, for sure. This could be an awesome learning experience for you.
  • Well, I think you would have learned the answer to that question if you paid closer attention in your class. :) If you live in a city of any significant size there will be Buddhist Temples, Jewish Synagogues, Islamic Mosques, and assorted other places of worship. ... I just noticed you posted this in the Rastafarian section. Rastafarians do not build temples or places of worship. When they get together, it's just at people's homes, bookstores, etc. I don't think that religion will qualify for your class assignment.
  • Congratulations on your interest in world religion; it's a subject you can study your whole life. Since we know nothing of your present religious inclination/affiliation, it's very hard to know what qualifies as 'another' religion. Because Christendom has a dizzying array of sects and denominations, even a member of one of these churches can easily find 'another' one that may be only slightly or greatly different. Among Christian faiths, there are a number of minority groups that are not mainline. Christian Scientists, Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons, Pentacostals and Seventh Day Adventists all quaify as 'another' if you are accustomed to Baptist, Catholic, Lutheran or Methodist type groups. (For full disclosure, i am a JW myself.) In visiting JW's, you have one advantage as far as learning about them. Wherever you are in the world, upon attending some of their meetings, you will find out what they are like and what they teach in every other state, province or country. I would suggest attending all 3 of their weekly meetings, take notes, compare what you see and hear to what you are used to. Now you will have a good idea of how we operate everywhere. If their Kingdom Halls are close enough, you might attend different congregations and at least once not tell them why you are there. If you are bold enough, you might try being rude or antagonistic at least once and see what their reaction is. In fact, wherever you decide to go or which religion you choose, i suggest you try this. Seeing how religious people react to resistence or opposition is a test of how true they are to their message. You might also try going well dressed and groomed one time and outrageously or slovenly another and see if there's a difference in your treatment. Clearly, whatever you choose, you will want to do your homework, reading some of their own writings and not depending on what others say. An easy, accurate way to research JW's is to go to www.watchtower.org
