How many people realize that taking birth control decreases your sex drive? Are you okay with this? Have you ever noticed that it does tend to slightly alter people's personalities as well?

It hasnt done that to me, it has increased mine!! the personality thing i would have to ask mu friends about, my boy calls me a vixen(not totally sure how to spell it) that and a nympho. was never like that before the pill.

I just started taking seasonique and in my case it sky rocketed my libido and what sucked is my bf was out of town so I was miserable. But right now I am on the 4th wk of it and I could say that my sex drive is still elevated but has not gone bk to normal yet. Every night I have a dream that pertains to having sex of some sort and it is kinda wierd. So not in every case does birth control lower your libido because it did the exact opposite to me. :)

Birth control killed my libido-- it even made sex not feel as good, which was a pretty bad trick, but 2 months after I went off the pill it was BACK.

you are so right. it definetly alters personality and SEX DRIVE! My mom got me to start on it once i was 17 and i told her i was having sex. when i was on it i felt easily angered and slightly depressed and withdrawling from social events. I even started to gain a few pounds but assumed that it was just normal for my age. Once i turned 18 i decided to stop taking the BC b/c i did not feel my usual self since i started taking it when i was 17. once i stopped my mood lifted and i felt that i was back to my normal slef. I shed about 5 lbs. and felt better than i had before......... and i will never go back to taking birth control ever again. I use condoms and do the rythem method.

that is not true imon the pill and i love to have sex alot and it still feels good. maybe it's just diffrent with some people i don't know but for me im the same as i was with sex and hormones.

Microgynon 30 has totally killed my sex drive. I guess that's why it's pretty much the most effective contraceptive =[ x

I realize this. I'm not okay with this. I just officially took out my nuvaring. It SIGNIFICANTLY altered my personality. I used to be a sweet, kind, fun loving girl..and now..I'm angry, bitter...and I really hate everything. I just want to be alone all of the time, even when I'm trying to spend time with my boyfriend. With whom I end up starting fights for stupid or insane reasons.. Like I said, I took out my nuvaring..and I'm never ever going back to any kind of birth control beyond male and female condoms. I'm not a hippie..I just miss being able to love.
