Yes. I applied at a restaurant once for a position as a server. They not only hired me on the spot- they also asked me if I could start that day. I applied at 10am and at 4pm I started working.

Yep. The other week I phoned up a bar and they wanted me to work an hour later. I had no experience or anything!
