I got a weird... thing... in one of my thumbs a while back. It got all these little blisters under the skin, and then the whole surface died and peeled off. Then a few months later it did it again. It still has one perennial weird blister, but hasn't had trouble since. I went and talked to a doctor about it, and he said he thought it was a skin virus, and gave me a script for it which did nothing except keep it moisturized, so I think the doctor was wrong. I still don't know what it was.

I got strep in my legs when I was in 2nd grade (in the 80s). I couldn't walk for several weeks because the pediatricians didn't know what it was. I had to keep my legs elevated or the pain was unbearable. They thought it was bruising (but it kept getting worse). They finally figured it out and gave me severe antibiotics. I've never known anyone that had that happen besides me.
