It depends on how far he wants to go and if he wants to be able to ride on the highway. Honda and Yamaha make more reasonably priced scoots than the ne plus ultra Vespa line. Kymco is an up-and-comer in the scoot world, as is TwistNGo. These Asian scoots are generally less expensive than Honda or Yamaha, but harder to find storefront dealerships that will service them properly.

He should get a Ricardo 150 touring scooter, that what i have and it's great!

Kymco - affordable, as in you don't pay for the Vespa 'name'. Very reliable - have been family made for about forty years now. Best guarentee in the business - a TWO year coverage. I bought one last Spring and love it - it has totally converted me from motorbikes to motor scooters. Clean, comfortable and ninety five mpg....

Yes... Asia is the best place to buy. Maybe you want to try www.nobelmobility.com. They're in Hong Kong, and my neighbour just bought one from there. I think, he's been enjoying it for 1 year now.

Honda scooters last forever, plus they have tons of service centers if needed.
