If you want to know the names of grapes and the regions they are grown in you just need to get a book. There are tons of them. As far as storage, most of the wine you buy at the store is ready to drink. Very few wines are of a quality that they improve substantially with age. They are sold in the store when they are ready. Generally some of the more complex darker reds require a little more time to be ready, but still, that is when they are put in the store - when they are ready. You can store wine for a bit if you keep it cool and in the proper humidity. You do not want the cork to dry out and let the wine oxidize. Keep the wine on its side. I would recommend taking a wine appreciation/tasting class. Look for them at some of the quality and/or smaller wine shops. They can be a lot of fun and give you a good base knowledge about what you are asking. Your best resource for wine info is a salesman at a good wine shop. Find one you like and trust and keep returning.
