  • Most full-time employees work 5 days a week/8 hours per day. Some employers allow special hours such as 4 days a week/10 hours per day. However, there is no federal law (and no state law that I am aware of) that prohibits an employer from having you work more days per week with less hours per day. There are laws that protect against harassment. If you are required to work 6 days a week and your co-workers only work 5, you MAY have a harassment claim. Also, if you have a unionized job, you may have some additional rights as outlined in your union contract.
  • If your job is based on a 40 hour work week, seven days a week, then you are allowed two days off. This is explained in the Federal Fair Labor Act of 1972.
