  • You probably need to suggest it to the other tenants and then consulate an attorney to establish rules and regulations etc to the running of the HOA.. A few other suggestions. 1. Be prepared to do the job you set out to do and not just hand it over if the going gets tough. 2. Don't impose so many little silly rules but do make sure the rules are laid down in an easy manner, and then be flexible in the enforcement of them. 3. Be consistant with the Rules of the HOA and also with the what you are trying to achieve for the homeowners. 4. If not everyone in the community is in the military, don't think you can govern them by military style rules etc. 5. It's a democratic society, don't impose a dictatorship.
  • My first response to you is this. If you wanted an HOA, why didn't you move into a neighborhood with one already established? Did it ever occur to you that the people in your neighborhood made a decision NOT to live in an HOA? It is one thing to want to improve the community, but if I were living in your community, I would perceive you as a power seeking busybody for wanting to start an HOA. I have nothing against neighborhood improvement, but in my view, the only just HOA is one that doesn't exist at all.
