  • An easy way to think of this is to realize that we are all God's children and as such we will get what is his. In this life we are children of our Earthly parents and when we grow up will have the same rights and responsibilities as they do. We will in a sense be equal to them yet we will still have respect for them. The same is our relationship with Heavenly Father.
  • Just read "The Pearl of Great Price" available at your local library. If you are good enough in this life, you get your own planet and god(ess) spouse to have children with to populate that planet. (like they believe we got here)
  • Yes, Mormons believe that they can become gods (or goddesses) and rule over their own planet given to them by our Heavenly Father. However, Not all Mormons can receive this ultimate inheritance. You must stay true to the commandments, be married, and be worthy in the eyes of God. If any of this is incorrect, leave a comment stating so. To Rodric Johnson: Where did you hear that? If you do all the things required to get into the highest level of heaven, then you, your wife, and many other wives that you will obtain after you achieve celestial glory will live in heaven and rule over your planet. To Rodric Johnson: Thank you very much for your comment. As my screenname suggests, I am not actually a Mormon yet. As such, I do not know all the specifics.
  • The term 'Deification' has 3 meanings. 1: An embodiment of the qualities of a god; The way in which some Prophets have been Mistaken of being gods, by Men who cannot comprehend why another man could have god like qualities. 2: The condition of being treated like a god; As the Pharaohs of Old, whether by True worship or Force. 3: The elevation of a person (as to the status of a god) 1 & 2 Are a Mans Perspective or Praise for a Man. 3, However, is a more suited definition, But with the word 'as' changes the meaning to be unreal. Not all men will become gods & they will not become gods instantly, it will more than likely, be a long learning process. Rom 8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: Rom 8:17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. Rom 8:18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
  • No, Moses 1:33 "Worlds without number have I created;...and by the Son I created them, which is mine Only Begotten" This / our universe is definately our God 'El-ohim' and all created by 'Jehovah' the pre-mortal Jesus Christ & God of the Old Testament. 'All things' were Planned & Created Spiritually & Executed Materialisticly according to God-the Fathers command.
  • Yes they do.Check out the answer for number 3. A Mormon admitting that the Mormons work for their salvation. Also admitting that Mormons believe in woman being eternally pregnant and being gods on their own planets! Does anyone else see that this is not what the bible teaches?????? Why do mormons deny they believe this? The bible does not say that we will be gods in heaven. There is only one God and when or if we go there we will worship HIM.To say that we will be gods is to agree with what the god of this world wants. Satan himself said: "For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High." (Isaiah 14:13-14) There is only one God and it's not us! God tells us not to be decieved and if you are Mormon you are decieved. I am not saying this to hurt you but to help you.My husband and his whole family finally saw the truth about mormonism and came out and got saved! If you are Mormon I challenge you to open your eyes and see that what you believe in is not the same God of the bible. Jesus said" by GRACE ye are saved, NOT of works..." You cannot be a good person to get to heaven. Only Jesus can get you there. It is not that complicated. All we have to do is this: "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." (Romans 10:13) Sorry if you do not agree but this is what the Lord says , Joseph Smith was not God nor did he hear from HIm and the book of Mormon was not inspired by God but by the devil. You will die in your sins if you do not turn from the lies and turn to the truth. JESUS to the Baylock brothers- answer this question- do you believe that you need to work for your salvation? or do you belive that Christ paid it in full?
  • No we don't, we believe that there is on;y one Heavenly Father. (God)
  • Does not God say that there are no other god's beside him? 2 SAMUEL 7:22, 1 KINGS 8:60, ISAIAH 44:6,8, ISAIAH 43:10,11.
  • Hi! I am a returned missionary. I have been in every presidency afforded a woman in the LDS Church and I also left the church just 6 months ago because I no longer felt I could teach my children that God has a body of flesh and bones, that Jesus was conceived physically by Mary and God, (adam/god theory) and that when we die we will inherit a kingdom and be kings and queens, priests and priestesses and rule our own planets and have eternal increase (I would be pregnant spiritually forever!)The thing that most endowed temple attending mormons expect when they are vague is that you won't know the "whole truth" until you convert and go through the temple at which time only than will you be ready to hear the truth. (Milk before meat!) I am married in the Temple and my husband and children still attend every single week. My kids are in kindergarten and first grade and already have been taught in Primary that they won't be with their mommy forever because she left mormonism. That is emotional abuse in my opinion. If you are reading this question bag because you are investigating mormonism for yourself or your family PLEASE RUN FAR AWAY!
  • First, they have to get to the highest level of heaven (there are three) and then they rule over another planet.
  • Well Saints dont get there title until they die - so they dont know they are saints to be able to become gods
  • Absolutely. It's a distinct possibility we generally believe in.
  • Wow. praise God, anonymous! That must have taken a lot of strength to leave the religion you have grown up in and that your family shared. I am a christian that is studying the Latter day saint religion, not as a potential convert but to understand their outlook so that I can (out of love) lead them to the only one true God if they so choose to listen. I would really like to talk to you to get your perspective on things. If you feel comfortable I would really like your e-mail address or a time to meet on this website so we can talk. Let me know if you are interested. thank you.
  • Yes, and they believe that you have to follow the commandments, through good works, attend the temple, get married in the temple, ware garments, have callings, go to church, bare your testomony, do baptizisms for the dead, perfect the saints can't think of any more right now but I will. In Christianity you just believe in Jesus.....hey I think I will stick with that one.
  • i am a member of the LDS church, therefore, i am mormon. i am only sixteen years old but i know what my church stands for. both of you are correct. we do not have single "godessess" however a man and woman will rule of a single planet, yes, planet, it might now be like earth. it could be an underwater planet for all we know. The bottom line however, is that our Heavenly Father wants us to strive to be just like his son while we are here on earth as the Bible states, in turn, if we live rightously now as Christ did then, we will recieve the same blessings, and power as our one and only God of this earth. and wannabemormon...go for it! you should be mormon, your life will change greatly (for the better) when you recieve the true gospel. hope i helped, however, nothing i type will give you knowldge and assurance that prayer could. pray and as Heavenly Father if what i am saying is right. if you pray with all of your heart you will recieve an answer. choose the right!
  • "Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves." (Matthew 7:15 KJ) "6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: 7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. 9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any [man] preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed." (Galatians 1:6-9 KJ)
  • Alright, just when I think I can take a break and get back to a normal life, Latter Day Satan makes a return to answer bag with the same offensive questions. The reason it is offensive to me is I know his history of losing debate after debate and going to another part of the forum and starting the exact same time all over again, even knowing that he's lost. For that reason I am going to go around to every question he's asked about Mormonism and I am going to flag each and every one of them as offensive. I think he's done enough hate-mongering to lose the privilege of debating in the Mormon forums, and I can just hope that answerbag sees it my way.
  • Yes, Mormons believe that they themselves can become a god themselves and rule their own planets. But doesn't Isaiah 43:10-11 say "You are my witnesses and my servants, chosen to know and to believe me and to understand that I alone am God. There is no other God; There never was and never will be. I am the Lord and there is no other Saviour." Also, if the book of Mormon was inspired by "God", then what were the 4,000 changes necessary for from 1830-1981? Joseph Smith claims that the Book of Mormon is the most correct book out of the four books, but yet there was 4,000 changes. In the Pearl of Great Price, Moses 2:1 claims that God, and God alone, created the universe. while Abraham 4:1 claims that the gods created the universe. Now I believe that Joseph Smith was a false prophet (Deuteronomy 13:1-10) after reading THE KINGDOM OF THE CULTS by RAVI ZACHARIAS. I recommend this book for anyone seeking the truth.
  • Read the books of Harry Porter and you will understand better about fantasies. My 2 cents.
  • Simple answer YES they do
  • Does the Bible teach that we are gods, or that we ever will be gods? Those who teach this refer to John 10:34, “Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?” as the scriptural base for such belief. Let’s study this and see if Jesus was telling the Jews who were about to stone him that they are gods or not. If we read the verses that proceed this verse, (starting at vs. 24) the Jews asked Jesus to tell them plainly if He was the Christ or not. He answered by saying that He is the one who gives eternal life (vs.28) and that He and the Father are one. (vs.30) For saying this, the Jews took up stones to stone Him. Jesus asked for which good works were they going to stone him? (vs.32) They answered and said, not for the good works, but for blasphemy, being a man, making yourself as God. (Vs.33) Jesus replied, “in the scriptures, I said, you are gods. And if he called them gods, then how can you say I blasphemed?” In other words, why didn’t you stone others who are just mere men when the scriptures say that you are gods? The Jews were correct in saying that mere man is not God, but since Jesus is God, then it was not blasphemy. Jesus was quoting Psalms 82:6 “I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High”. Verse 7 continues, “But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes”. The tone and the explanation of Psalms 82: 6 are best understood when we read 1 Samuel 8: 4-7. “Then all the elders of Israel gathered themselves together, and came to Samuel unto Ramah, and said unto them, Behold, thou art old, and thy sons walk not in thy ways: now make us a king to judge us like all the nations. But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said, Give us a king to judge us. And Samuel prayed unto the Lord. And the Lord said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them.” In other words, they desired to be their own gods which is exactly what the first lie of Satan was that we find recorded in Genesis 3:5. “For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes will be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.” The desire to be as God is the reason that Lucifer fell, and it should be no surprise that he should tempt man with the same temptation that seized his own heart, to partake of the same desire which he had within himself. (Isaiah 14:13-14) Satan told a half lie and half truth (as he is famous for doing), because we see in Genesis 3:22 that God said, “Behold, the man has become as one of us (“us” is the trinity), to know good and evil.” It is true that man has the knowledge of good and evil, just as does God, but the difference is that God has the knowledge of good and evil and hates evil and cannot be tempted by it. Man not only is tempted by evil, but also loves evil and is incapable of doing anything about it. The reason is because man is not God and can never be God. If man were a god, then it would only stand to reason that he would have the capacity to have life within himself and would never do anything evil. However, the reality is that man does great evil and will die as man. Man was created in the image of God, and an image is just that, an image. An image is merely the reflection of the real thing, but not the real thing and can never be the real thing. When God appointed kings to rule over nations, those whom God appointed, were His representatives to rule as gods, but when man declared that they would not have God to reign over them, they die as men. Man never was God and can never be God, and only by the grace and mercy of God can man even be declared righteous and given the privilege of being the representative of God on this earth and throughout eternity. This explanation is what Jesus told the Jews in John 10: 34, and it was not a compliment, in fact it was a rebuke, and to teach and believe this scripture as being proof we can be gods is not only heretical, but is blasphemous as well.
  • yes they do. jamie says so.
  • Well, since Joseph smith (Jr) penned it and he "Was" a "Man of God" (snicker) then by gosh it must be true!! Oh, this also shows that your "Average" indoctrinated Mormon only really reads the D&C, BoM and AoF the bible? Nope!
  • I have sat down with some missionaries to try and understand just what it is that the LDS religion is about, while I spent some time in Utah. This is very much true, they believe that you do not stop learning after death. That you can progress and eventually learn to create your own world and be the God of that world.
  • Yes. This is know as "Exaltation" and you can read about it here: http://www.mrm.org/celestial-marriage
  • Yes, they were told that by a serpent and believe it whole heartedly.
