I will never start.

I have never spanked my children, and doubt I ever will. I tried hard to imagine a good age to stop, but I can't fathom ever doing it to begin with. I have a toddler and a pre-schooler and I still have yet to spank. My kids are very well behaved and, like most kids, want to see their parents happy.

Never start, spanking= cruelty by someone biggerr, stronger, in authority.
-
What age do you start spanking? The answer: NEVER
-
When it stops being useful.
-
When it stops being an effective means of discipline. Go ahead, rate me down. It's fine. I am the first one to admit I spank my baby, sometimes you need to spank them. Some kids don't listen to time out or fussing.

I haven't had to spank my child since her age of 7. I don't believe in time outs. We are not playing Hockey in my household therefor no penalty box is or will be ever needed.
-
When I feel that my child no longer needs it.
-
Well I haven't started yet and he is 27. I think if I haven't done by the time he is 30 I probably never will.
-
ummm....the bible believes in spanking...i'm not going to quote it because i dont know it word for word but it is in there
-
when ever it is not the most effective teaching instrument. I doubt it's effecacy on even preteens. I figure it will mostly stop when the attention span and language skills make other diciplines effective. punishments must be unpleasant or the misbehavior will not be discouraged.

I stopped giving my children swats, since they never had spankings, when they were around pre-k to school age. It was an attention getter when I did because I didn't know better ways of doing it with my older two. With my younger three, they never had a swat. And yes, I was constantly being complimented on how well behaved my large family was. Considering I was single parenting, I think I did a good job.

I will NEVER spank my child. Some people say its alright but i dont think it is. Its the same thing as hitting them in the face(ie. abuse). Thats just my personal opinion though.

I come from New Zealand where spanking your child is against the law.

I never started.

Again. I was spanked as a child. And I gotta say it only made me fearful of my parents. I'd never spank my children. I prefer taking away their favourite belongings like, a toy car, or a teddy bear, when they have misbehaved. And for elders, I prefer grounding, allowance stopping, chores, and phone bans. I don't think spanking does children any good.

8-10, simple enough. Spanking can be useful. And I will admit that it works on SOME older people. But in general the cells that go from your brain to your rear (which is why, when you spank, they really are sorry, 'cause the action taking place on the read tells their mind they did something wrong)die out. I remember when my sister was 15 my mother slapped her butt twice when my sister wasn't ready for it, and my sister called her an asshole. Go figure. Anyway, after about 12 it becomes pure humiliation, and anyone who humiliates their kids for punishment is a really bad parent.

I was spanked as a child, for my kids I spanked till they learned what's good and what's bad was. no use from it now.

When I was like 10 I went to the friend of a friend's house to have a water sponge fight(throwing soaking sponges at eachother). The kid had an older sister who was like 15-16 and she must have done something, I don't remember, and her mom spanked her.. I was really surprised. I couldn't believe her mom was still spanking her. It was embarrassing.

I do NOT believe in spanking children as it only teaches them that VIOLENCE and hitting are the answers to problems ... I prefer time outs, taking prized possessions/ toys away , grounding , etc ... Can hurt a lot more than a spanking in the long run if the child is aware that there are CONSEQUENCES for his /her actions and that they WILL be delt out ... +5
