Yes because Israel is powerful and arrogant and supported by the West especially America who believe that they can do no wrong! This comes largelt from a mis-placed pre-millenial view of the bible which they believe the Jews to be the ongoing people of God who must re-gain Jerusalem before the return of Christ. Some Christians are actually in full support of conflict and are actively encouraging Israeli attrocties.

There are many more Palestinian refugees than Israeli ones, for several reasons. The first ones are, as peterpam has said, "Israel is powerful and arrogant and supported by the West especially America who believe that they can do no wrong! " The west has supported Israel far beyond the way it should have. I believe in the existence of Israel, but also for justice for the Palestinians. In that respect, if more help had been offered to Palestine, the bloodshed happening there may have been avoided. 2) the second reason, however, is even sadder than the continual oppression from Israel. It is that the Palestinian people have no common voice, and are torn between fundamentalists and moderates. It is also true that, sadly, there are those within Palestine who see it as an advantage to keep the people poor and in refugee camps, to further their own ends. Sad but true. It is always the case, world over. In fact, the first calls for the Palestinian Arabs to leave the Israeli state in the 1940s did not come from the new Israeli government, but from Palestinian leaders who whipped up fear that the ARabs would be persecuted. Had they not done that ( it is documented- look around the net) many of the people who are now and STILL in camps would be back on their lands within the state of Israel. Things are never black and white. There is fault on a number of fronts here. And, in the middle, are men, women and children who want a quiet life.
