I've been out with girls who have generally shown no outward sign that they are on their period. I've also been out with girls whose personality totally changed for a few days every month! Generally, though, I've found girls are very good at saying "sorry I've been moody lately, but I'm on my period" and I always respect that. It's far better to know than to think "wow, what's up with HER?" My point is that, if your girl is one who gets very moody at her time of the month, you will know about it sooner rather than later. And you will find that you are more understanding when it comes to that "certain time". If your girl is moody all the time then I'm afraid that's her personality! This is such a loaded question that I'm finding it hard to answer without being vague.

Actually, it might not be a bad thing not to attribute a bad mood to a girl's period. While it is certainly true for some girls that the biochemical fluctuations involved in the monthly cycle, including ovulation and PMS, can affect mood, this is not true for all girls and women. I actually found that I was touchy during ovulation and fine the rest of the time, except for irritable about the mechanics of constantly trying to find a washroom, etc., during heavy periods. If guys always use a girl's period as an excuse for a bad mood, they wouldn't be accepting the possibility that she might have a legitimate reason to be annoyed (with him or about something else). In other words, it could trivialize a valid 'bad mood.'

Although it may be useful for a man to know why the woman is moody, it can also be used as an insult to when a woman is angry and the comment is : 'she must be on her period' and have a good laugh about it! But men who say that.. do they ever think that mabey its THEM that are making the woman angry and not thier own bodies? mabey i have just run into the wrong sort of guys to have heard that several times has anyone else heard a comment like that?

Why don't guys attribute girls' bad moods to having their period? Hmm. probably because they know better. :-p

Many of them do. And it annoys the Hell out of me. Question answered??? It would be unfair on women AND men to blame all bad moods on having a period. I went out with a guy for a very short time who did this- would not entertain the possibility that I might be in a bad mood because actually something bad had happened (or he'd done something wrong!), it was all down to my period. As if women are not capable of having logical, consequential thoughts we are just bundles of illogical emotion led on helplessly by our hormones. I've also seen the other side of the coin, a girl who would every so often behave in a bitchy, selfish and generally unpleasant manner towards her boyfriend and everyone else around her, then shortly afterwards say "I'm sorry I was on my period so I was in a bad mood." as if that counts as an excuse. (One wonders whether it would stand up in court?) So if a guy doesn't blame a girl's bad mood on her period it's probably because he's a sensible, clear-thinking modern guy of the kind any girl should be grateful to have as a boyfriend.

I am a male: My sisters and many of my female friends often DO attribute their bad moods with having their periods. I assumed, then, that all of these women whom I have heard this from were telling me the truth. I sure hope I don't need to tell them that they have been lying to me all this time. Afterall, I only attributed PMS to girls' bad moods because it was girls' who told me that it is true! Now what am I supposed to think... ??? I'm confused. Being a male, all I know that might even come close to understanding PMS is that, if I were constipated every single month and felt cramps for 3 or 4 days because I couldn't go... I would be in a bad mood, too! Cramps are cramps. Aren't they?

I am a female and on several occations in the past I might have a bad day at work or run in with someone that might have put me in a short/ sour mood. My bf would just assume that i must be on the "rag" just because I don't feel like smiling or joking around because I had a bad day. When I am on my period you would never even know it. I am a pretty laid back girl. But yea I have ran into that saying when guys are trying to be funny. Or it's like they are trying to get more of a rise out of you. I don't know. What ever happened to "Hi honey how was your day?" lol to me having PMS doesn't constitute bitting someones head off, it's not an excuse for doing so either.
