Jiminey Cricket? Just kidding! I like most Indian Cricketeers - the Indian teams are amazing.
-
Gary Sobers
-
To answer my own question I will go for Sir Viv Richards as the greatest batsmen and Shane Warne as the greatest bowler.
-
The ones I have seen play; Batsman; Viv Richards. Bowler; Denis Lillee. All Rounder; Ian Botham. Wicketkeeper; Alan Knott.
-
Sir Garfield Sobers. Ian Botham W G Grace Denis Lillee. Jack Russell ( Just because I like him) Viv Richards. Loads of the older retired players were very good.
-
Its hard for me as only being 28 I missed out on many of the greats, and am therefore ill informed to speak of Bradman etc.. For me its Warne, being a great is all about standing out from your peers, warne does just that.
-
warnie is one good spin baller, watching him bowl his sublime balls is pretty good kp also excites when hes hitting big, but i wouldnt say hes the greatest of all time you cant argue with a 90 something average, so don bradman has to be the best
-
One and only one the great Sachin Tendulkar
-
Most would say Bradman because he has an average of 99 but he played against just one country:- England. I would have to say its a close call between Sachin Tendulkar and Lance Klusnar. Micheal Beven and Curtley Ambrose are probably the most underated great cricketers of all time.
-
well its quite obviuosly Sir Don Bradman, anyone who says otherwise is a complete ritard or doesnt know cricket. an average of 99.94 and the next best is 60, how can u argue with that.
-
G'day Mr Torch, Thank you for your question. I would choose different cricketers in each discipline. Bradman was the best ever. Sobers was the best all-rounder as a top class batsman, excellent fielder and able to bowl medium pace and off-spin at test level. Picking bowlers is more difficult but I will pick Dennis Lillee as a fast bowler and Shane Warne as a spinner. I would pick Adam Gilchrist as a keeper due to his abilities as a batsman. Regards

For anyone that truely knows and loves the game of cricket it is very hard not to pick Don Bradman. He is obviously the greatest batsman of all time. And in response to the comment above that "but he played against just one country:- England." the England sides he played against were incredible -- I can only imagine the type of record he might have achieved if his test career included play abunch of countries. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don_Bradman In the modern era I think I would lean towards Tendulkar as being just a bit above the rest. But Greatest cricketer is a different question all together. I might still reluctantly say Bradman. But in my heart I feel the greatest cricketer of all time was Gary Sobers. He made his way into a world class West Indian team as a spin bowler. He was goof enough to make the team as a fast medium bowler, he is definately one of the top 10 batsmen of all time. He may well be one of the best fielders of all time, and not just at one position. I watched him play cover, I watch him in slips, I watched him square. He had an incredible arm and an ability to snag a ball with ease. His one flaw was that if the game wasn't on the line he could decide to have fun. But in the clutch suddenly a very different batter and bowler arrived. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_Sobers Judging the bowlers is much more difficult becuase the bowlers around you have a huge impact. For example, Statham was a very difficult bowler to handle, he rarely bowled a bad ball -- bascially unplayable. At the other end was Trueman, also a good bowler but a little easier to score off. Guess which one got most of the wickets? On the Gary Sobers teams of the 60's he was a very difficult bowler to score runs off, while Charlie Griffith was going to spray it around. If you were an opposing batsman the rule was play safe with Lance Gibbs and Sobers and go for it against the others. and then there is WG Grace. He invented the modern game he turned the sport from a weekend fun thing into a sport. He certainly had the greatest imapct on the game. How is it that almost no one mentions his name in the lists? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/W._G._Grace A long answer. But bottom line is my head goes with Don Bradman and my heart goes with Gary Sobers (maybe because I got to see him play a number of times?)

Hard as there is really three important aspects so the three and the best in my view are below. Batsmen, Justin Langer Bowler, Alan Donald Fielder, Jonty Rhodes
-
Jiminy.
-
Buddy Holly! :p
-
Jimmy the Cricket ~~Walt Disney Studios
-
Batsman - Donald Bradman Yep he must have played against one country yet you got to be one of best to average 99.94 against even a school team. no one has done it yet. So he should be the best Bowler - Muttiah Muralitharan (Murali) He has taken more wickets than any other bowler in both forms of cricket, test and one dayers. And he took less matches to do this. You gotta give credit to him. Fielder - Jonty Rhodes

Sir Donald Bradman
-
The greastest cricketer of all time has to be William Gilbert Grace, 1848-1915. W.C. Crace played cricket at county level and for England Internationals for 44 seasons, and during that time he notched up 54,000 runs, and took 2,800 wickets.I dont think anyone can match his magnificent record.
-
Jimmy Cricket. ( Back in his school days of course..). http://www.jimmycricket.co.uk/

Gary Sobers would be overall the greatest CRICKETER as he was an allrounder. In earlier answer I said Bradman which I would like to add was the greatest BATSMAN.
-
No doubt that Brian Lara is a greatest player of cricket. He has performed many excellent inning fro his team like not out on 402* run.
