  • Grisoft's AVG and that's what I have on my PC. The free version.
  • -Spyware Terminator -Spybot Search and Destroy 1.4 I have Spybot 1.4. It's free and works great.
  • I use Spybot Search and Destroy and Lavasoft AdAware.
  • Avast ~ It's free and I've found it to be the best one.
  • Avast or AVG they are both great programs and are both free, but I find that Avast doesn't slow my computer down as much when as AVG when it's running in the back.
  • I use avg, and zonealarm and find them to be both good.
  • Ive been using Bitdefender for about a year now. I like it. Its my first all-in-one. Before that I used Avast with Ad-Aware and Sygate Firewall.
  • I use AVG Anti-virus and Comodo Firewall.
  • I use AVAST. I like it.
  • AVG - it is going great for me!
  • Forget all the spyware and adware removers. Just use these and you'll never face a virus again 1) NOD32 <<trust me on this one. All the tech geeks use this. 2) Mozilla Firefox (NEVER Internet Explorer!) 3) Xoftspy SE <<for some pesky unwanted ads that might have gotten through (somehow)
  • On Linux, I use nothing because viruses aren't a problem. When I'm compelled to use Windows (at work, friends' computers, etc.) I recommend AVG -- it's free, has low system resource usage, and is highly rated by numerous reviewers and computer magazines.
  • G'day Trojan Medic, Thank you for your question. I use Norton Anti-Virus. However Consumer Search rates Kaspersky as the best. PC World rates BitDefender, Kaspersky and McAfee as the best. A third antivirus review finds that Kaspersky and BitDefender are the best options. I have attached sources for your reference. References Consumer Search http://www.consumersearch.com/www/software/antivirus-software/ PC World http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,124475-page,1/article.html Anti-virus http://anti-virus-software-review.toptenreviews.com/
  • Whatever you do, do not use AVG, its garbage and doesnt catach anything.. personally i use 2 programs and only 2. Kapersky and AVAST. Kapersky is amazing but it costs money, avast however is free and awesome.
  • I follow what an expert says, and he is Leo Laporte: (http://leoville.com/). He recommends ESET NOD32, and that's the one I got for my computer. I have read on other reviews and it shows ESET NOD32 at the top on Antivirus ratings. He says that AVG, Avast and Avira do a decent job and they are free. He doesn't recommend Norton and McAfee home editions because they are too bloated and slow down the computers up to 20%. The Norton and McAfee Corporate or Industrial, the editions used by the Government and the Industry are OK, but the ones made for us will slow down your computer like molasses. ESET NOD32 can be downloaded and the payment sent online.
  • Zone Alarm
  • NOD32, followed by spyware doctor (best in eradicating spyware/adware) followed by adaware pro, then I add hijackthis! in for those hard to get bugs.
  • Zone alarm and AVG, both free and they both work lol
  • Linux, it's free, resource efficient, and has almost no viruses.
  • AVG antivirus , is good and is free
  • McAfee
  • Avast - The best, and it's free. I use it and recommend it. http://www.avast.com/
  • I've always used Norton.
  • I'm confident that it's Norton.
  • I use Norton because I trust it...but it can be very slow to load when you are restarting your computer..
  • My favorite anti-virus software is the one I'm currently using. Its independently published and you may not have heard of it. It's nothing. By and large, a computer is most secure when you're not doing anything stupid and remembering to check for bugs along the way. When using ANY anti-virus software, my outdated Microsoft Office products and personal applications slow down significantly ostensibly to check for problems that I KNOW THEY DON'T HAVE. I even remember losing homework assignments to some unknown virus. In the end, I think my favorite has to be the good ole' M&E anti-virus software. That is the anti-virus that is me.
  • the one I currently use and have used for year's is Norton Antivirus. I tried McAfee once...it gave me nothing but problems.
  • I have Norton Symantic on one Computer and laptop and McAfee on the other PC. I do not think there is a lot of difference.
  • Nod32 is my fave.
  • I use AVG as well as Spy-BotS&D and Ad-AwareSE I have found these work great together and most important they work with bloody Windows XP gggrrrrr :)
  • I used Trend-micro for years and switched this year to the top rated antivirus Kaspersky internet security 6.0. It doesn't use up a lot of memory like other antivirus do and is simple to use...I also use spywareblaster/CCleaner/Add-Aware SE/Regcleaner
  • McAfee
  • AVAST. They also have a free, temporary "home version" which is the best download deal on the net. If you are undecided, I recommend downloading it until you decide. You can purchase their commercial version online, as well. Very good.
  • if you want a computer that actually works and doesnt lag, then get avg, its pretty light but does the job. used norton before, great av program, but poor performance, very slow
  • Norton and I feel it's the best depending on the package you get.
  • I too would have to recommend NOD32 out of all non freeware antiviral programs, however your best defense against computer viruses and malicious programs is to keep your virus definitions up to date no matter which program you choose!
  • I use Avast! on my Windows install, and nothing on my Linux install. Avast is my choise as it is free, requires a basic registration (they email you a key, it takes all of 5 minutes), and updates itself quietly almost every day. The update is automatic, takes less than 30 seconds, works in the background, and the only result is a small window that disappears by itself and a kind voice proclaiming "The virus database has been updated." The program also prompts you with a window similar to the update window if a new software version is available. Clicking this window will automatically download and install the new update in a couple of minutes. Past ease of use, Avast! also is very secure, as it constantly checks files on-access by any process, and has a very configurable depth scanner. I trust Avast! wholeheartedly to secure my Windows PC.
  • I am using Kaspersky antivirus on my PC and I am using online free virus check tool as well. It's here if you are interested - http://smart-ip.net/en/tools/virus-scan
  • i use AVG 8 (Pay) but you can use Avg8 free just 1 thing you need t do keep them updated and use good firewall
  • I use AVG Free edition. I recommend you use any product that works for you. Some people have huge issues with the big, paid products like Norton and McAfee (as do I), but if they work for you, that's what matters. The only suggestion I would make is not to rely too heavily on the free products if you do not absolutely practise safe computing. The free stuff is mostly detection against infections. They tend to be a bit lacking on the removal side of things. The paid products are more thorough of a defence and what I recommend for those who take more risks (or are untrained in the art of safe computing).
  • AVG all the way.
