Is pride a sin or a sense of achievement? What is the difference?

In the Catholic church, pride is one of the seven cardinal or deadly sins. However, I think the church is referring to excessive pride or that which causes someone to become ego-centric and not give the glory of his achievement to God. I think a healthy sense of pride can be a good thing. When you accomplish something worthy, there's nothing wrong with being proud of it.

it's both. unfortunately the english language doesn't differentiate between the kind of pride that 'comes before a fall' (i.e., arrogance, center of the world haughtiness, etc) and the 'pride', or sense of accomplishment/achievement you get when you do something well (which, if the right people get proper credit, including God, is a good thing). it's one word for a few different emotions, just like love.
