Traditionally authors autograph books on the title page. However, some sign on the inside front cover.

I would say anywhere the author feels appropriate or requested by the purchaser of the book.

An author signs a book wherever he or she chooses. I have books here which were signed on the title page and others signed after the acknowledgements and dedication. My own are signed before the dedication, preface and introduction. It’s a matter of preference.
