She wanted Harry Potter removed from the school library because witchcraft is a religion..that's pretty lame. It's been a few years since I've been in school but my school library had a couple copies of the Bible in it. I could understand her objection if students had to read the books for a class, but just having them available in the library is not a problem.

Wow- some people... She doesn't have to read the books, and her kids don't have to read the books, but to make it so other people can't read the books is just... Angering. What a stupid snatch, IMO. She should NOT have the right to say that the fictional stories are not appropriate for other people to read. She can have her opinions, but to keep other people from reading something because she doesn't like it... she can just go jump off a cliff. And also, I like how she makes a big deal that witchcraft violates the seperation between church and state: "Mallory argued in part that witchcraft is a religion practiced by some people and, therefore, the books should be banned because reading them in school violates the constitutional separation of church and state", but then decides to go on and say: "I have a dream that God will be welcomed back in our schools again," Mallory said. "I think we need him." PEOPLE ARE SO FRICKIN STUPID. I can't believe she breeds. :(

Rowling is among great company. Included on this list is America's poet laureate. I relate book banning to The Third Reich whose motives were clear! Top Ten Challenged Authors 1990 to 2004: 1. Alvin Schwartz 2. Judy Blume 3. Robert Cormier 4. J.K. Rowling 5. Michael Willhoite 6. Katherine Paterson 7. Stephen King 8. Maya Angelou 9. R.L. Stine 10. John Steinbeck

"I have a dream that God will be welcomed back in our schools again," Mallory said. "I think we need him." So that isn't forcing "religious" beliefs on someone either? I know I don't want my children to believe in that stuff. It might be fine for some, but seriously not for others. Harry Potter is FICTION. The book teaches more tolerance and rising to the occasion as the under dog more than anything. What extremist freaks live in this world!
