  • Years? Months? How about weeks - like one week if its being used every day or two weeks if it is used infrequently. Oil itself has a shelf life (without use) if unopened, peanut oil and corn and other vegetable oils will keep for at least a year. Once opened, they’re good for four to six months. But peanut oil, like olive oil, which is high in monounsaturates, benefits more from storage in the refrigerator. Olive oil will keep for about 6 months in the cool, dark pantry, but up to a year in the refrigerator. Walnut oil and sesame oil are delicate and inclined toward turning rancid. Kept in the refrigerator, they will stay fresh for two to four months. Using oil not only puts particles of food matter (which can rot, hold disease, incubate many nasties) and gets air bubbles which speed up the breakdown of the oil and causes it to go rancid quicker. All USED oil should be stored in the refrigerator to extends its reuse life to two weeks TOPS.
  • How come your not ill,i throw oil out about every two weeks the colour change should be enough to put you off using it.
  • It depends on the type of oil, but if it's not being refrigerated then it's going to get rancid a lot quicker than if it was kept refrigerated.
  • Actually once you have heated oil to near it's flash point, it weakens and then it's flashpoint is lowered. How much lowered depends on th etype of oil but it can be by as much as 75°. SO if you heated your oil once to 375° then the flashpoint could be down to 300°' You have to be very careful reheating it. It could ignite. It's actually not a good idea to reuse oil unless you are careful to watch your temps and use an oil that starts out having a very high flashpoint.
  • well I learned something here, I had not idea you could reuse it?!
