  • Over 100 and still counting. LDS (Mormon)
  • Lots of them and I am not a christian
  • I couldn't tell you how many, but I guess it would be quite a few. Only thing is, I can't always remember chapter and verse, because I have problems remembering numbers. The words are not so hard. Parts of Genesis 1 and 3 Exodus 20 (the 10 Commandments) The beginning verses of Ecclesiastes 3. Ecclesiastes 12;1 (that one I can remember!) Psalm 1, Parts of Psalm 8 Psalm 23, Psalm 100 Parts of Isaiah 1 and 53 Parts of Daniel Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you, not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future" Micah 5:2 (I had to look the ref up) But you, O Bethlehem Ephratah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, from you will come a ruler, whose origins are from old, from Ancient of Days." Lots of Matthew. I tried to learn Mark off by heart and got three chapters, which i can still quote long pieces of. Lots of Luke. John 1, the first few verses. John 3:16; Joh 8:58; John 11 (I am the Resurrection and the Life); parts of John 14 and 16 bits of Acts. Romans 3:23; Romans 5:8; Romans 6:23 (these were amongst the first I learnt) Romans 8:28 Ephesians 2:8-10 Verses from throughout the Pauline letters The opening verses of Hebrews Rev 21 (bits of) As I said, I can't remember all of them. And I may not get them word for word, but if you start me off, I can generally quote pretty well.
  • I don't know the chapter/verse, but I know a few. I'm an atheist, too.
  • Me... Pentacostal Christian... Matthew 5: Blessed are the poor in spirit... It helps me with my depression...
  • I have not known many passages by heart. I remember some of the primary verses and I will write them as follows: Genesis 1:1 - "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth". Psalm 23:1 - "The Lord is my Shepherd and I shall not be in want". Psalm 37:4 - "Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart". Psalm 119:105 - "The word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path". Matthew 3:6-9 - "Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptations but deliver us from the evil one". John 10:10b - "...I come that they may have life and have it to the full". John 3:16 - "For God so loved that He gave His one and only Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life". John 6:47 - "I tell you the truth whoever believes has everlasting life". John 14:6 - "Jesus answered: I am the way and the truth and the life. No comes to the Father except through Me". Romans 3:23 - "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God". Romans 6:23 - "The wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus the Lord". Philippians 4:13 - "I can do all things through Him who gives me strength". 1 John 4:8b "...God is love". I am in fellowship in a Baptist Church.
  • reciting and rote means not one single thing to God...knowing and understanding is whats important....a child of 2 can recite...even the priests and satan knew Scripture...that means nothing....they did not understand(priests) nor follow , as Jesus told them... i am of no sect or denomination(peoples , or their doctrines or dogma).....and never will be again...i dont try to follow man , just the WORD....:)

  • Jesus wept. One. Non-denominational Christian.
  • None. I was baptized Ronan Catholic but im really agnostic and only go to mass when im forced, which is becoming less and less often.
  • I'm not good at memorizing anything, but frequently I think of a verse or passage when it's applicable.
  • One person can recite the entire OT and NT by memory and the next person cannot remember a single line in either but lives a life of self less service and charity. And the winner is.......?
