Equal Opportunity Employer means that the company or employer does not discriminate against others because they are different.

An Equal Opportunity Employer is subject to laws governing hiring and employment. Qualified applicants are considered for employment without regard to age, race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, or disability. In some states, EOE includes other protected classes too, such as veteran status and having a spouse with a criminal record. If you need assistance or an accommodation during the application process because of a disability, it is available upon request under EOE laws. The company provides such assistance, and no applicant will be penalized as a result of such a request. The key here is, you must be qualified for the position you seek. You won't be given preference just because you may fall under the legal protections for one of these classes.
