  • No, the absence of conflict is peace.
  • It's a good start but I think until we have peace within our own homes and within our families, we have no hope of achieving peace in the world. In my opinion only then will we be able to eradicate war and have peace in the world.
  • What do you concider peace? For example: homosexuals and right wing religious groups arent technicaly at war, nor are they typicaly violent with each other (save for several instances) but the religious right wing and homosexuals arent at peace with each other and many are still harrased. The more i think about things like this, the more i belive general peace is a fantasy and the only thing i can be at peace with is myself.
  • The absence of war is not peace. -Harry S Truman
  • Certainly not. That is why it is safe to say there has never been peace in the world.
  • no, i don't think so. i may be getting a bit too philosophical, but i think that there can be no true peace till we're all at peace with ourselves ;)
  • In a way yes, when war is not present within a civilization then yes it can thrive and have true peace. But remember, the human mind has many emotions and reactions to different topics. The longest ever recorded ''Peace'' within a civilization is over 400 years, the time of augustus the great ''Octavious'' one of the rulers of Rome. It seems that ever since the creation of men, there has been war. In my opinion war is something enivitable and a part of the human mind. It cant be stopped and it wont, until everyone in this planet decides to settle their differences and live in prospect.
  • No. Generally, the absence of war is only a prelude to war. Tensions can grow incredibly high in such times. A true peace would require freedom of commerce between all parties.
