I have purchased an unglazed ceramic pizza 'stone.' Do I have to season it in any way before using it? Will the melted cheese stick to it if I don't season it?

When you first purchase your pizza stone it has a very rough surface. Some manufacturers will recommend that you season it as you would a cast iron pot. Even if you don't deliberately season it, seasoning will occur naturally over time if you follow the correct cleaning procedure.

First thing is wash it well with warm water. NO SOAP!!! Let it air dry overnight if possible. It needs to be completely dry. Then rub the stone with some loive oil. Use your fingers and hand. Then let it sit and rest for about an hour. You can use it after that.
