  • duh, the same reason you're so stupid.
  • I don't know, perhaps it isn't as much people being stupid as people being ignorant. Assuming that Americans are particularly 'stupid' would be an example of this.
  • Not all Americans are stupid. Assuming because our president is stupid doesn't make americans stupid.
  • duh i must be american then heheehe
  • aw hell naw
  • oh dear this question is gonna get some aggro.i dont know how to answer it. I think SOME americans are so wrapped up in their own country that they dont feel the need to learn about the rest of us and europe, i admit most dont know much at all about europe for example.i know some who dont even realise wales is a country!!! look at george bush.
  • Its their nature. Ignorance, poor judgement, bad upbringings, failure of society, lack of moral fiber, blame it on any of them. So specifically Americans = generations of inflated egos meeting privilege, combined to make ignorant and naive people whose only fanatical purpose in life involves superficial rights, pop culture, Mcdonalds, and lawsuits. Yes, Im an American...and Yes, I still think theyre stupid.
  • What is up with all the America bashing all of a sudden? Stupidity runs rampant everywhere. Case and point.
  • I think we catch it from all the assholes here from other countries.
  • Americans are considered stupid for a number of reasons... One, you allways elect idiots as your president. Two, you think you are free! You are not free! Three, many americans say/do really stupid things. There are many more I am sure, but I will give you an example of something someone said to me while I was in California in 2001. This person knew I was from London, England, no doubt about it! He then asked me "You speak really good english, do they teach that there?" Now I have met many americans and it is only a minority that I would call stupid, but I honestly believe that the %-age of stupid people from America is higher than that of any other major country in the world. My opinion.
  • Stupidity isn't quite the right word and not all Americans fit this definition (I know plenty of smart Americans), but I do think there are some stupid people out there, stupid in the sense of ignorance rather than lack of intelligence. Ignorance tends to breed ignorance and a lot of people never look beyond what they have been taught, which can lead them to be blind to the wider world. They are also accustomed to thinking that their opinions are Right and therefore they must be voiced as loudly as possible, because hey, that's Freedom of Speech. And the problem is, other ignorant people listen, and then you get these little blocks of ignorant people joining together, supporting each others opinions, all very loud and all blinded by their own ignorance and arrogance, and yes, it comes across as stupidity. It reminds me of sheep. I don't think that the majority of people in America are stupid, just that the intelligent ones don't speak up as much as the ignorant ones, and if they do, they tend to get drowned out by all those sheep out there.
  • You guys are all having a good laugh at our expense. Unless you know each of us, and that is quite unlikely, generalizing as is done in the question is rather unfair, don't you think? Many of us know our weaknesses and try to improve upon those areas...many of us are oblivious and believe we can do no wrong. But doesn't that fit all peoples of the world? I don't like stereotyping in any of its forms...that might be one of my weaknesses, which I acknowledge if you perceive it to be such.
  • I don't think people are stupid... just ignorant. Sometimes they are so happily ignorant that they do appear stupid. As for Americans, we aren't especially stupid, just especially happily ignorant of everyone else :p Most often you do find Americans that feel that because they are Americans they are right, and everybody else is wrong. Didn't you know, God loves America. Americans are enlightened and everyone else is stupid. Then again, many of us don't agree with this and we are not so ignorant that we don't listen to what 'others' have to say about us, or to other views and ideologies.
