Smoke and mirrors referrers the the illusions that magicians use to fool the audience into thinking that what they see is really happening. It is used as a metaphor to mean that what someone is telling you is basically BS. It appears to be solid reasoning but in reality it's all smoke and mirrors. I like this one too. lol
