I tried one time, but it had too many electronic components that had to be solder, resistors, capacitors, coils, that I gave up.

Yes and I managed to make it navigate, without sophisticated electronics, around the room! It was purely mechanical but a lot of fun to make and play with!

No but i know a lot of people that are told how to act and think. I wouldn't know where to start if I were to actually try. I'm just the idea man after all.

Yup! Well...not built from scratch, but I remember taking a physics class and we built and programmed a robot out of legos. ;)

Well, I was part of a team that developed a couple of chemical-processing robots for a chemistry instrumentation company. None of them looked like R2D2, they had laboratory applications.

When I was a kid I built toy robots out of scrap material lying around in the house.
