  • If there is no proof, then no. Just talk to the detective, and explain the situation. Don't be belligerent, and you should be fine.
  • Words are just words. it will take more than someone's mear suspicion, for you to be arrested. just because you are going to talk to a detective, does not mean he will arrest. he is looking for answers from both sides of this situation, in order to come to a conclusion.
  • It's his obligation to interview you since your name came up. Be honest and you should be OK. Then, find a better class of friends. Seriously, that's pretty low.
  • If your friend accused you then its just a techinicality..they have to question you. Just talk with the detective honestly..dont go into any long drawn out defense type statement. answer the questions honestly and dont get nervous. Its just a part of the investigation process..without proof or evidence they can not arrest you nor would they risk doing so on suspicion because that leaves the city or state open to a wrongful arrest situation
  • Isn't it crazy how someone can turn on you like this. They probably had the item stolen for insurance purposes and now it's convenient in so many ways to try to implicate you. If you are innocent, you should have nothing to be afraid of. Just make sure you look at this "detective's" credentials before answering any questions.
  • no question or answer - only a thank you to the nice, helpful people who answered my question. i guess i'll try to cll the cop today and tell him what's up. i've just had problems in the past with the law that actually was responsible for, so cops scare me. but this time i truly am innocent. i will post again to tell you guys how it went, so long as i'm not in jail. thanks again. - zach
  • Answer the officer's questions but be prepared to stop. If anything makes you uncomfortable about the situation, if the officer doesn't seem to be listening, or if you are tempted to lie, than you should terminate the call. It is better to say nothing and make them mad at you than to lie or make them more suspicious. In general you should be extremely nice, call the officer "sir" and answer his questions honestly and briefly.
  • Get an attorney first. My husband is sitting in jail for the past 2 weeks because his own brother has accused him of stealing from his neighbors. We have proof that he was no where around at the time these thefts took place. His bail is so high, I can't get him out. His court appointed lawyer isn't doing anything to help. I sent her proof of his where abouts with times and everything. His next court date isnt for another month. He's missing our daughter's graduation all because his brother is a freak. I can't believe anyone would believe a three time convicted felon.
