Why do people give their pets stupid names?

They are not stupid to them, Its worse when they give the stupid names to thier children, thats just cruel.

Because we can't name our kids something as stupid as what we call our pets. Well we can... (and some people do tend to give their kids names that I wouldn't even name an animal)

Because they think it's a cute name. I named my girl dog Manning after Archie Manning. Go figure.

All though I'm guilty of it ( I have a male dog named Trixy and a female named Baby-Cakes) I really coulnd't tell you why.

My husband named my bird Skittles because it looks like a rainbow spilled on it. Stupid? Maybe. Appropriate? Totally.
