You'd have to define old age as in this society it gets younger every day it seems. But I don't agree with that saying. If the world (and U.S. society in general) seems like it's going down the toilet now, imagine if there were no older people to offer their experience and the wisdom they've gained through it.

Not at all, my mum started doing an Open University course in her seventies. And I intend to have a very active old age (If I ever consider myself old).
