We need to reorganise a lot so that the Prime Minister is not chosen by Parliament (which he theoretically is), let alone sections of Parliament.

I'm afraid none of those groups can do it. The PARLIAMENTARY Labour Party, i.e. the Labour MPs chose their leader and that person presents himself to the Queen, who is the person with the authority to appoint a Prime Minister. So, in effect, the Prime Minister is chosen by his Parliamentary colleagues.
