  • I would attempt to help them cope with the psychological difficulites that they would be facing. They would certainly need help through this difficult time. I would also help them in any way I could physically
  • 1. I have two acres of rural land, trees with lots, and lots of underbrush. Further I have "projects" like painting the house, the out buildings, I want to pull out all the English ivy in the Ivy Garden and set the pathway, and plant something else there. Plus lots of shrubbery that can be trimmed. And... the list is rather long so I will not bore you with it. 2. I eat low fat low added sugar, been doing that for years. I even bake that way and my baked goods are the first to go at Thanksgiving and Christmas when I do my major baking for the family. I would turn the child (and his/her parents) to my way of eating - no one that dines in my house leaves hungry or unsatisfied - but they are eating healthy. What we have is exercise and diet - the two fundamental reasons why people get fat or stay lean. Uncle David walks on a cane and is a cripple - thus I would convince the kid that she/he was helping me and neglect to tell them that the purpose of all of that work and stuff was actually to help them. BTW I do hire out the teenagers in the family to come over and help me to tend to the property - even though I crip I am still out there next to them on these many projects.
  • Remove all televisions and computers, including gameboys, etc. Ipods OK. Provide bicycle, skates, and access to parks, playgrounds, recreational facilities. I would eliminate all sugar from the home and no allowance. Money can be earned by doing chores - mostly those that involve alot of bending, stretching and lifting.
  • Make them walk to/from school every day, get them to take up a sport,no junk food
