  • No Zibby, I don't think it would be wierd at all! I think it would be incredibly sweet, like you! And you'll get lots of puppy love in return:)
  • No, it's not at all weird. We celebrate our cats birthdays (buy them presents) every year, after all they're an equal part of our family!
  • It's not weird, plus it will get you lots of smooches!
  • Anthropomorphism is a major factor in many people's relationships with their pets. It isn't at all weird to any of them.
  • I think it's sweet. This is my new dog Daisy and the other is my older dog Manning.
  • Here's my b-day DOGter...
  • Are ya kidding me? lmao...we have so many I sometimes miss the exact day...but we always do something to acknowledge our fur-kids...usually I make homemade dog biscuits for them. (all human grade ingredients and so we also sometimes use them for bread sticks with salads..they're that good!) I made them for all the dogs in our neighborhood last Christmas, and delivered them with the people bread and cookies...and the doggies LOVED them! Considering HOW MUCH our companion animals give to us 365/24/7...I'd think it more odd NOT to wish them a happy day in some manner! I remembered my old (great) Uncle Claude...he always had a mule or draft horse for plowing his home garden down in Durham, NC. He never worked his mule or horse on Sundays, or on the ANIMAL'S birthday (if he didn't know the birthday, he make one up!). I asked about it once, and he said No one should have to work on the Lord's day. (and he wasn't working these animals on a daily basis either, even after he was retired...lol after all, you plow and you're done with that part. I asked about the other...and he just grinned and said, "Well, I don't rightly know when Jake (or Daisy, or Rudy) was born, but here he is, and today's HIS BIRTHDAY with me, I got him on THIS Day 8 years ago...he's a good Mule, and this is HIS DAY. He also got a bunch of treats on his day...carrots, apple, extra corn...and the whole day in an open paddock, so he could come and go as he pleased...no plow, no saddle up, but about an hour's worth of grooming, which he enjoyed as much as the treats.
