Arjan is a name that is most commonly found in two cultures, pronounced the same way in both, which is "Ar-yan." http://www.behindthename.com/php/view.php?name=arjan That of the Dutch, who pronounce their "j" with a "y" sound, and The Sihk's, whose language is Punjabi-- a language categorized as being Indo-Aryan. Not surprisingly, the "Aryan" you are probably most familiar with (The Nazi concept of the superior race) actually originates from this language. You can follow the whole idea from these articles in Wiki, if it interests you at all. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indo-Aryan_language http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aryan http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aryan_race Although, if I were to go to this [American] baby-naming site (heheh, I went as many places as possible), it is stated that Arjan is pronounced "A-rjan," or "Ar-jan," as in the "j" sound. http://www.thinkbabynames.com/meaning/1/Arjan As with many American English words, the pronounciations get misconstrued somewhere in the process of where it originated to the current pronunciation, so it may just be "Ar-jan," as that is how American English grammar would interpret it. It's hard to say which would be the better of the two for "Arjanwood," though I am leaning towards "Ar-yan-wood." You may want to research the history of the Apratment Complex if they have a website or place that has that information. (Or if you want to be diplomatic about it, call a 1-800 number that has something to do with the place, or whatever number will get you a pre-recorded operator, and perhaps you can find out there. =P)
