  • depends on how good the liar is. If its a trial lawyer you never can tell. But most liars avoid eye contact or avoid answering the question OR they qualified the negation or denial of the lie with : "How could you think that?" instead of a straight "no" answer
  • Not sure, I heard to the left.
  • I could definitely be wrong but I once heard that it corresponds with thw hand you wright with. They should allready be looking down mostly, unless they're a really good liar. But one thing that always proves true is their pupils will dialate.
  • I've read that it's much more effective to actually listen to what a person's saying and how they say it than to look for body language clues to tell if they're lying. Are they answering you with a question, avoiding giving details, etc.
  • I thought it was to the left because that's like the creative side of your brain and you're making smomething up you know?? might be full of crap but who knows!
  • I think you look to the left..to the right means you're thinking..tho I may have it reversed.
  • I think Left is correct.
  • I turn left when I fib.
  • It would be nice if the answer were so easy as left or right. Some liars can look you straight in the eye and spin the most outrageous story. Some truth-tellers are uneasy about something ELSE and do not look you in the eye while telling you something 100 percent righteous. Some CULTURES discourage looking others straight in the eye. People put a lot more stock in nonverbal signals than they should. Yes, the signals are all around us, but they can mean very different things.
  • Nuttsky is closest to being correct you neither look right nor left or avoid eye contact, ive fooled a lie detector before (for my degree in psychology not any ulterior motive) you can give away "tells" when your lieing but again these are unique to each individual. I highly reccomend picking up derren browns book tricks of the mind itll explain lieing better to you than any pscyhology text book.

  • I think when somebody is lying he/she looking right into your eyes trying to understand if you believe in what their saing or no.
  • a lie is a lie, is that persons truth, so if i say it to be true, believe me or not, i do not care. i may look right, i may look left, i may never stop lieing and you will never know. this is my world, this is my truth. i would not be coming here for you to ask me questions, if i did not know how to lie to begin with. my truth is my truth, do not judge me today.
  • They go all over the place.
  • neither... or either they just never look you in the eye, it's physically IMPOSSIBLE for them to do
  • Shifty
  • apparently its different for left and right handed people, left handed people look to the lerft, right handed look to the right, thats whaty I recently read, Im not sure totally.....
  • People who lie all the time will look at you in your eyes and not blink...almost like a stare.
  • Up and to the left, accessing the creative side of the brain. When you recall something, you'll look to the right, accessing the memory banks of the brain.
  • http://www.nlpu.com/Articles/artic14.htm People (or at least right-handed ones) tend to look up and to _their_ left while recalling facts, doing mental arithmetic, etc, and they tend to look up and to _their_ right while imagining or lying. Easy way to test this: Try and add/multiply some large-ish numbers in your head. You'll probably find your eyes moving up and to your left.
  • It's bullshit. The best liars will look you dead in the eye.
