not in a million years , and yes i would punish him or her .
-
Nope. I'd have them return the item to the manager, apologize and then do work around the house for whatever amount the item cost.
-
If my child stole bubblegum, no. I would make him/her bring it back to the store. If my child stole jewellery off of a corpse, or something REALLY bad, I don't know, because I am not a parent, but I think so.
-
no. i'll take care of it.

Depends on the magnitude of the theft. Sealing a few sweets - no, though I would give them a serious punishment myself. Stealing cars, serious sums of money etc - probably yes, though I would first inquire why they were stealing (e.g. have they acquired a drug habit).
-
yes i wud they need to be taught. and just letting them off the hook isnt going to fix anything,
-
Definitely not. But I would turn you into the Spelling Police.
-
depends on how old they are... not enough info....
-
I didnt know that plating steel was illegal...
-
Yes definitely I would make them go back to the shop, deal with the Police and totally scare the bejesus out of them.
-
I would march them right back to the store they got it from. If they stole from someone we knew they'd be going right back to return it. If it was a bigger theft I see cops in their future. Each and every time I would be standing there telling who ever they took from to treat them no diffrent. When everyone else is done it's my turn. They won't like my turn at all.

I think everyone here is thinking of "Petty" crimes involving younger children, the question was a "what if your child", meaning it could be at any age from 1-100 and no one has said if this would have been a serous crime, like severely beating someone up for their money, stealing an auto, breaking and entering to steal drugs/money etc. etc....You have to draw the line on love somewhere and do the right thing, Your first sorrow should be your only sorrow!...JMHO......
