DVD/VCR combo drives usually flake out on you easily. If the burned DVD's play on a normal DVD player but not your combo player, it's probably time for a new DVD player. I had the same problem as well. VHS tapes played but DVD's would not. Richard Shines

You don't need a new DVD burner. The chances are that you have the DVD player set to format the discs so that they can be written to more than once , or a 'live file system', even on DVD-R discs.
