  • Sure - I know lots of them - BUT, the smoke in moderation. Typically not something a teenager is capable of...
  • yes, i've met a few.
  • Sure. I've known a few. A person in the house I currently share tokes up every day at lunchtime and after dinner. Yet he goes to work every day and I've only seen him call in sick once in 9 months (and it was legitimate). I'm *not* advocating it as a lifestyle, but it can be done. . . .
  • sure, I knew someone who was ridiculously high-strung and started smoking and finally became functional. I think a lot of people with attention disorders become more functional because they smoke weed regularly(I'm not a doctor, this is only what I've seen!). However, I don't think I've ever seen someone who was actually stoned and able to be more than border-line productive.
  • Yes, a whole group of them. Various ages. Two of them smoke over 30 joints a day and have been doing this for 20 or more years. It's a wonder they remember which direction they are going in. (Sometimes they don't.) Scary to say the least.
  • Uh, of course! contrary to the stereotypes (the ones about drunks are true, but the ones about potheads are alarmingly false) we are not all a bunch of stupid, lazy, slackers. Most of us even have real jobs and leave the couch more than once a day!
  • Yes..a very large number of professionals smoke
  • while there are many who just want to be a sorry-ass, we're not all like that. alot of people would be surprized if they knew of some of the people around them that smoke.
  • Of course.
  • Back in the day I was very functional, held a good job, paid my bills, etc. Sure.
  • Yes, my father fits that bill pretty well. Well, if you can call sitting in an armchair all day reading the newspaper and yelling at your children "Functional".
  • Of course there are! I know many. Some, very successful.
  • Sure, I see them driving around all the time. Unfortunately I know many of them.
  • YES some people actually smoke to function - Arthritic people, some people with depression. It really depends on what you smoke - a sativa strain can make you very very active and indica dominant strains can give you "couch lock"
  • Without a doubt. Lots of folks that started in high school never stopped.
  • yes there is such a thing as a functional pothead. I know that there is. A person can use it at night before bed, get a good nights sleep, get up and run 3 miles and go to work come home, cook, clean, etc and get along just fine. Of course there is ALWAYS going to be the exception...just like some folks can not drink without drinking tooo much. But that doesn't make alcohol illegal does it?
  • Define functional? I used to smoke and did for many many years. I have been working at the same job for over 20 years, never once did I go to work high. On the other hand, when I would smoke at home I was not a good parent to my children, mainly because I was so relaxed that I missed a lot of major flags that needed to be addressed but didn't due to me being stoned. I finally stopped smoking when I divorced realizing that I was only doing it to 'cope' with what was a horrible, empty and unhealthy relationship. Though I am much more aware and what most kids call 'strict' they actually appreciate the guidance and they respect me in a way they couldn't before. I certainly don't judge and I can still say with compelte honesty I liked smoking...I'm just much happier being clean.
  • Yes, but tht doesn't say waht or how well they are functioning. They could be doing great functioning at the high school level but if they're over 40, how sad. They say that you remain at the emotional level at whatever age you start smoking pot, no matter how mature you become in other areas. You could function and I know some that do, but there is just something about them that never gorws up and not in a nice or sweet way. I've noticed this from friends that did this in the 60s and thru the 80s. Hasn't changed, they are all still affected, sorry to say. I love them dearly and they have changed and wished they never did drugs but for some things you can't go back. And one relative never grew up past the party stage from high school, even in his 40s. Died on Skid Row as John Doe. Sad for his family, his son.
  • Absolutley count me as one of them. I have never not gone to work because I was high. I have never bought weed over paying my bills. As a matter of fact latley I have been having some fininancial problems and have not had the money to buy it. It is all in the person drive and ambition, if that person wants to be a loser and do nothing with there life that is the person not the pot
  • Some of my friends who smoke are the smartest brightest people you will ever meet... It's summer time at our school at the moment, and I started smoking the last day of my 10th grade year. I smoked 2 joints with my boy (My bestfriend) before we went to graduation that night. I smoke when I'm stressed or I'm having a shitty day. It's not exactly bad for you. I remember everything I do when I'm getting blazed. And
  • Irvin Rosenfeld
  • I went to college with six functional potheads. They spent the weekends and some of the evenings smoking marijuana and dropping LSD. During the weekdays they earned 4.0 GPAs in the School of Engineering. I didn't do drugs as often as they did, and as a consequence I didn't do as well as they did in school.
  • yes.i used to smoke alot and when i wasnt high i couldnt function.i didnt have an appetite i couldnt sleep and i was a b****. i couldnt study unless i was high.
  • define functional we all have faults like i can't roll a joint for shit straight but let me rip the gb and i roll a tater
  • Yes, i am one.
  • You're looking at one here.
  • i was one.
  • Yes, I function very well thank you. lol
  • Almost every pot head i know is functional... How do you think they pay for their pot? You certainly don't hear about potheads murdering gas station clerks for $50 cash to support their habit! LOL
  • I know several functional potheads> They do just as well in life as none potheads.
  • I know several functional potheads, as well as a few dysfunctional potheads, but more functional than not...the other ones are just burnt..LOL
  • I too am a functional pothead.
  • I know a few but I have observed the older that they are, the grumpier they have gotten. Not as much fun to be around. These are friends that have smoked for over 30yrs. I think in time pot can affect you in negative ways.
  • Yes there is such a thing as me. I'm a retired millionaire and I didn't get here by not being able to function. I think a lot of the pot, drug, and alcohol users who aren't functional probably aren't functional when they're sober either. When they use them solely as a means of escape and as a means of suppressing sociopathic tendencies rather than as vehicles of enjoyment and celebration then the demons that plague them are only given new forms of expression.
  • I'm in the 9th grade, have A's and B's. do better than some people I know who are so conditioned that they wouldn't try it for money. I smoke on weekends.. that's it. Moderation is key for being a "functional pothead".
  • Snoop Dogg
  • ... Yes. Smoking marijuana does not impair your ability to work. How do you think people work those horrible, hard-ass jobs in construction and welding? 95% of those people smoke grass.
  • i exist dont i? :)
  • Just becuase your not functional, dosent mean that evrey other stoner isnt either.
  • I would have to say yes. I do not smoke but everyone I know does and they are all functional. They all just smoke in the morning before work to get going and after work to relax. As long as you stay motivated I would say you are a functional pothead
  • I am one of those people. I have managed to smoke since age 7, still pass all my classes through 4 years of college, and graduate in the top 10% of my class, with a degree in Botany. I served in the US Army, and even get awarded the Bronze Star for Valor, as well as a couple Purple Hearts. I must have been doing all right, because I left the army as a Staff Sergeant E-6. I have spoken to large crowds about the TRUE positive and negative aspects of marijuana. I have worked on the legalization issue for a number of years, and proudly work with NORML. So you see, there are people out there who can responsibly handle marijuana use, and still manage to be productive citizens. We don't just all go out and act silly when high.
  • i've bin smokeing weed, pot since i was 15 and i have a full time job and have never been unemployed most of my freinds are the same. there are dangerous drugs out there but weed is'nt one of them.
  • there are some great Sativa's that actually aids in functioning....there are some...but not many.
  • well I have smoked the weed for well over 40 years and I am very functional in every way, I have 3 trade certificates and have run a international warehouse with over 100 people. I know that everyone of my friends are in the same boat ALL are on top of their game in everything they do in life but! I do know a few people who are a waste of space and they smoke the weed ...but then if they could they would get someone else to breathe for them anyway
  • I can do anything while I'm smoking the Ganja that i can do when I'm not.
  • If a happily-married dude who was able to retire for life at the age of 56 could be considered functional, then there is such a thing. ;)
  • Of course there is.
  • Oh absolutely, a very close friend of mine is an english professor, and a responsible mother and wife and has been a 'pothead' for over 15 years!!
  • Yes, but is very easy to get disfunctional.
  • of crouse i unfortlly im not
  • You bet. Stereotypes about pot-smokers really burn me up. I was smoking pot virtually every day while I got a graduate degree from a top-notch university and had a successful job with a major international firm. It's this kind od pre-conceived notion that, er, hum-what was the question again?
  • I know several! :)
  • I am dysfunctional without the aid of pot.
  • I myself am one. I share a partnership with one other individual in running a construction cleaning business. Hard labor, a great wage of $30.00 an hour, and i work an estimated eight hours a day, four times out of the week. And i myself own: The Hulk ~ 2 foot bong Double Chamber ~ 18 inch double chamber bong Pipes ~ 4 Volcano ~ Vaporizer:D
  • Not ever fully functional in my mind.
  • well by definition.. breathing, sitting on the couch and occupying space are all functions - so yes!
  • My best friend is #2 in our class, and also the biggest pothead I know.
  • I've got a friend who smokes everyday, He had the top english mark in the country for His final school year. He studied finacial management and cum lauda hs Honours in it. Now he works for one of the largest banks in the world doing work I cant even understand. So to answer your question. Yes, most definately Now ask the same question about booze...
  • I've met plenty.
  • Some of the smartest people I know are pot heads.
  • Probably, there are "functional alcoholics" and if pot is as harmless as the users say, it would be easy to function under the influence.
  • what kind of question is this? functional potheads arent like santa claus. they are real and everywhere. thats like asking, 'do you believe in stoplights?'
  • Yes... I was a functional pothead for about 10 years... then the system labeled me as "job security" and has taken all my previous means of employment
  • yes..yes I do
  • Yes, they are among you! As a college student, I knew several professors that were current/former pot heads. There was nothing wrong with them, they weren't monstrous degenerates, just intelligent people that occasionally smoked a dried plant. I knew a financial advisor that worked for a fortune 500 company........the man made more in a year than most ever will in their lifetime. . . .and he used to smoke an ounce a day! So what I'm trying to say here is that this particular substance effects people in a multitude of ways; some of which may or may not occur in certain individuals (depending on their genetic vulnerability). I'd personally suggest that if you have any moderate to sever mental abnormalities (ex: Bipolar disorder, Schizophrenia, or something along those spectrums) that you should not smoke Marijuana, as it could increase the severity of your worst symptoms. It's not the substance, it is the person that cannot use it in a safe/responsible manor.
  • Yeah, I used to be one.
  • Absolutely. I was one for 19 years. Many people around me smoke (or smoked) pot for years and years, and they are very well functioning.
  • Yes, there are alot of them. :)
  • yes I do. Not all pot heads just sit around eating cup cakes, many have full time jobs and make really good money. I happen to know a few.
  • I've never heard it put like that before. I just call it a functioning pot holder and as long as it keeps your fingers from touching the burning rod inside, it's all good, just as long at it protects the pot holder. You.
  • A whole bunch of them.
  • dude, i get all my shit done stoned...it makes everything easy and very fast. when i have homework, I hit the bong and can get it all done. Not all potheads are lazy.
  • Ab-so-bloody-lutely.
  • Yes,but its not me.
  • of course there is my mothers one and so is my s/o both are very functional, very capable, and work hard
  • A lot of them are, more so than we think. Just like there are plenty of functional alcoholics. How they compromise or go about being functional, and for how long remains to be seen, but functional none the less.
  • Hell ya there are!!! I have graduated High school and going in to my 2nd year of college and i smoke the trees EVERYDAY! I go to work high and i work at a clothing store and im always moving and never sitting. Me and my boyfriend are barely lazy.
  • Well since my last long answer just got deleted because I wasnt signed in, I'll make this short. I was in the military for several years and smoked just about every weekend and never failed a single drug screen. This is how I done it- For drug screens I suggest 2 products. One is called surejel and can be found in any grocery store by the geletin. What this does is masks the THC cells(which are similar to fat cells) by coating them with geletin the down side to this is after mixing it up with water it tastes absolutely horrible and only works for around 5 hours. Another method (and I suggest using both) is actually cleansing this can be done by drinking lots of water and using water purification pills. The water purification tablets can be found at any wal-mart in the camping section a good product is called potable aqua The water purification pills are simply Iodine tablets used to purify questionable water in a survival situation. The downside to this is that the iodine tablets have been known to cause damage to kidneys if used for a prolonged time. So only use them at most every 2-3 weeks. From one smoker to another I hope this helps. Its not quite as informal as my initial answer but im sure it will more than help. Happy smoking and may big buds and clean piss be in your future
  • What's the question again? Um, yeah.. sure.
  • Absolutely there are functional marijuana smokers. I am a chronic user, however I have graduated from college not once but twice. I have 2 Bachelor's of Science and the second time I graduated Cum Laude. I think that people need to stop sterotyping individuals based on their marijuana use. I know plenty of people who don't smoke, and they have never went to college, nor do they have jobs and are content to live on welfare. Many professionals use marijuana and its no different than using prescription drugs, other than with prescription drugs you get addicted. I quit smoking weed whenever I want to, right now its been 66 days since I smoked.
  • Yes! I'm one and my husband is one! Been smoking for 11 years and it hasn't affected me in anyway except putting smoke in my lungs. Not all smokers are lazy and just plan old couch potato's some of us do work and have very important jobs. We keep it simple and to ourselves. Never been in trouble with the law either.
  • YES!!!!!!! I am one of the very very many! most of us have jobs! in fact when i get stoned i hate sitting around the house! id rather get high and go exploreing or hiking than sit around and do nothing as do most of the people that i know smoke! and no i am not a light smoker! i like heavy indikas (affects the body and gives a stronger high) and i can sit and smoke an eighth to myself in one sitting if i felt like it!
  • Being a person with severe ADHD i can tell u first hand that marijuana DOES NOT MAKE YOU LAZY! You make urself lazy, when i smoke marijuana i actually become twice as functional. It helps me stay on track and it doesnt turn me into a zombie like many perscriptions.
  • YES..... I FUNCTION WELL!!!!!
  • i was one....i graduated college because of weed.
  • To many, I'm known as a "functional pothead." =] no shame in that =]
  • Yeah, you just offended one.. There are way more functional "potheads" than dysfunctional ones.. Its just that the dysfunctional potheads are the ones that are more seen and known than the undercover potheads.. I'm smart as hell, and I smoke once every night.
