Not in the way they used to matter. Rankings and weekly placements mean very little now because so many of the top people have either committed badgicide or are on extended breaks. Or just not spending as much time on site
-
Honesty first, points second.
-
no. im new to this site, and im not even sure how it all works, what do points get me?
-
From level 1 until level 49, no. However, during the build up to me becoming a Sage, points were the focal point of me logging onto Answerbag, and for that reason, I contemplated leaving. Now, once again, I care not for points
-
No. I would like to see the point system dropped. I don't judge a person by the number of points/levels they have but by the quality of their answers/responses.
-
I didn't realize that points were of any importance. I just enjoy reading the questions and answers.
-
I wish there were no points system..just questions and answers and comments.
-
nope, not until you can trade them for prizes
-
ITs all about the friends!
-
Only when you first start!
-
Depends on whether you value points over having your questions answered and answering other user's questions properly.
-
No are prize I know of other than an innate sense of acceptance. Shhh, don't tell anyone (the titles are silly). I find slappin' points on people quite satisfying however.
-
Yes they do!! with enough points you can become "Supreme Grand Pupa" & be awarded the PupaMobile for your transportation needs!!!
-
there is the cruise option for those with fifty thousand points or more. the annual answerbag cruise. only serious players are allowed to go.
-
The points are a mere pat on the back saying hey job well done. They say you posted a good question or helpful answer. A very small token but can have a large impact on those you give them to. even the grumpiest member if loaded down with points will crack a smile so there really isn't a downside to giving them out. Sure you get a level boost and a nifty new title but that does not give you any thing but text as no matter what name you have and no matter how many points you have. It takes everyone to make this place the great place that it is.

Yes they do, to the questions and mostly to the answers. They do not mean much to the people in the long run. But they are of great value to the answers so that the better ones rise to the top. That's why just giving them away willy-nilly on 'real' type questions, as opposed to the personal opinion questions, matters so much. The person asking the question and the people coming for information at a later date, need something to help show them what are the good answers.
