Atlanta is a great place. I used to live there. They have the beautiful Atlanta Botanical Gardens, One of the world's largest aquariums, an extensive night life, hundreds of wonderful restaurants, and tons of historic landmarks. There is great shopping at malls ranging from Outlet stores to high-end clothing and gifts. It has a wonderful music scene and is also great for several sports including baseball and hockey. One of the benefits of Atlanta is that it has everything a big city is supposed to have while still retaining it's Southern Charm.

Atlanta is a great city. I've lived there all of my life. We have a huge diversity of EVERYTHING-culture, music, food, tourist stuff, history...you name it, we have it. If you're coming to Atlanta, be sure to hit the Aquarium and the World of Coke. They're awesome. We have tons of museums, such as the High Museum of Art, which currently has a deal with the Louvre in Paris and has a lot of famous art on display.

If I were you, I would visit Savannah while you are that close. It is full of history also.

It is a total suckhole. the most popular attraction is the worlds largest lump of granite. From may to october the weather is too hot, in July it gets so hot, the living envy the dead!

I just got back from Atlanta and like it so much, I'm thinking of moving there. Before I do, I want to check it out in the summer to see if I can handle the heat and humidity. I found the city to be very clean except in a few districts where people really couldn't care less. We checked out a lot of things in the three days we were there, such as: - the CNN building - the Georgia aquarium (which is huge) - the Martin Luther King memorial - the Atlanta Underground mall (which had some really neat vintage cars) - a trolley tour of the city - a Thrashers hockey game - the Coca-Cola museum (which in my opinion was overrated) - the state capitol building - a Centennial Park built (we think) in honor of the Olympics We were thinking about taking a horse-drawn carriage tour but too many of the animals were limping and slipping as though they'd been injured. I also wanted to hear a real live marching band since Georgia is famous for them, but it's the wrong time of year. Watch out for the panhandlers. For food, we tried: - amazing Tuscan Italian food at Brio (not Southern, but had excellent crab cake and seafood) - outstanding seafood at Legal Sea Foods which is right next to the aquarium (I didn't ask...) and they also served a genuine mint julep drink which was quite tasty and apparently authentically Southern. - great BBQ from Rollin' Bones BBQ just a couple blocks away from the Martin Luther King memorial - mediocre seafood from a place called Eat At Joe's which is some kind of chain; the one we tried wasn't fantastic - Sunday brunch in a revolving restaurant at the top of the Westin hotel downtown... beautiful view and fairly good food but very expensive and the crab cake was disappointing - Traditional collard greens, candied yams, and peach cobbler from a fast food place in the airport... very tasty but the black-eyed peas turned out to be some kind of bean, and that messed me up. I can't digest beans. I will be growing collards and mustard greens of my own in my garden this year. The yams and cobbler were pretty sweet so a little bit goes a long way. I didn't succeed in finding and eating chitlings, grits, or sweet potato pie. Next time maybe.

I really dislike it. Too many Republicans and too much violence. The food is good though. ((I live here by the way.))

I live in Metro-Atlanta and have been there many a time. Atlanta is an ideal place for tourists and people who move there. You have so many attractions to visit, such as: The World of Coke, Atlana Aquirium, Atlanta Zoo, Six Flags, Centianally Olympic Park, The Fox theater, Phillips Arena, Georgia Dome, Turner Field, Six Flags just down the road. And thats just a the ones off the top of my head. You can't go wrong with Atlanta, I'm sure she will love it.

Great city, LOVE it! The weather is awesome, yes it gets hot and humid in July/August, but you can also sit outside from February-November. Then a very short and sunny Winter and then it is Spring again! And it is one of America's true booming cities, there is a lot going on and it is still growing. We are expected to reach 6 mln next year, yet it is still affordable.

Republicans live mainly in the rest of GA. We've had a Democrat as Mayor for decades now.
