There are so many ways. What will be successful depends a good deal upon how much work you are willing to do. Generally, a feeling comes AFTER a thought. If you identify which thougts are resulting in the emotions you call nervous or stressed, you can begin to recognize and stop them as they occur. There are lots of resources to help you do this. You might begin by looking at Rational Emotive Therapy by Albert Ellis. A more populist approach is taken by Anthony Robbins. You can also do a web search on Neuro Linguistic Programing....this is just a fancy name for how to program your emotions by talking to yourself in very structured ways. There are of course physical cures for emotions as well. Many people get relief by exercise or sex....this gives you an endorphin high. You can of course try drugs such as Atavan, but I would advise doing a careful search of the online literature about side effects before you choose a drug. Finally, you can remove yourself from situations and relationships that are leading to negative emotions. A nice guide to how to do this effectively is Harry Browne's book "How I Found Freedom in an Unfree World".

Educate yourself on what exactly stress is and how it effects us. Its natural to feel intimidated by things we dont understand. Also if u understand it you'll know how to prevent it or reduce it. If a stranger attacks u and u know his strengths weaknesses then ur gonna know how to take that person on right.

If it is interferring with your life to a great degree search out what makes you anxious. There are groups for different types of anxiety also info online. You can try CES also. Or relaxation tapes. Brain Evolution has a free 15 minute download you might want to try. (no I have no connection to them, I just find the download to be relaxing.) Also deep slow breathing. It fools your body into thinking you are relaxed and then suddenly you are. Anxiety /nervousness is a flight or fight response and you need to override it and not trigger it in situations where you are not in a survival mode.
