In Pokemon Diamond(DS), how do you trade pokemon to/from Emerald (GBA)?

if it can be done, you probably have to put Emerald in Slot2 and Diamond in Slot1. Otherwise, I'm not sure.

Well you can't trade from diamond to emerald no matter what. But what the first guy said is true, you need to complete the sinnoh dex then it's on route 221

There are a few pokémon you need to see 1st: namely, the three pokémon that stop Dialga or Palkia. Fighting other Trainers helps as well. Once all 150 are seen, take your pokédex to Prof. Rowan in Sandgem. Prof. Oak will come in and give you the national pokédex, then says he's going south. Follow him and, after some Surfing and another route, you'll come across the Pal Park. Enter, save your game and restart your DS. If Emerald's in the GBA slot, a new option will have appeared on the menu, "migrate from Emerald." Press it, then follow the instructions. Whew, that hurt my thumb. I'm using the Wii, see, and... Wiimotes can hurt.

first complete the game and the Sinnoh dex. then put your emerald cartridge in slot 2. load up diamond and press "migrate from emerald". then go to route 221. as for trading to emerald, it's impossible.
